Ovation Productions is dedicated to providing paid opportunities in Ottawa for musical theatre artists, and to producing high-quality, entertaining, professional musical theatre productions in Ottawa to be enjoyed by audiences. We are very selective about our venues - making sure they are intimate, allowing for a more immersive theatre experience.

Hello and welcome!

My name is Tanya and I am the Artistic Producer, Executive Director and Founder of Ovation Productions. I attended Sheridan College for Musical Theatre Performance and recently completed a Master of Arts Degree in Theatre Theory and Dramaturgy. I started my career in theatre comparatively later in life after suppressing my passion for theatre for many years while pursuing a career in scientific research. I studied Biochemistry in my undergraduate years and also completed a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry with a specialization in Human and Molecular Genetics. I also completed my Bachelor of Education and have been teaching part time as an Ontario Certified Teacher for the past 13 years. I am so proud to have garnered so many useful skills such as a keen attention to detail, a strong collaborative mindset, and effective communication skills, among others, that I can now apply in my role as Artistic Producer. I am lucky to have performed on a number of professional stages across Ontario and to have been featured in original musical cast recordings, as well as having participated in a number of workshops for new Canadian works. I am also the proud mother of two wonderful children, who remind me every day of the importance of being patient and never giving up on your dreams.

My role with Ovation Productions involves overseeing programming and independently producing all of our productions. I hire and work closely with creative team members, designers and artists to ensure we are providing high quality entertainment for our audiences in a safe, fun, and collaborative team environment. I also enjoy helping out with various aspects of each production as needed, such as the design and acquisition of costumes and props.

The mandate of Ovation Productions has always been simple: to provide paid opportunities for artists and to produce high quality professional musical theatre. In addition, we try and hire local artists as much as possible. Ottawa loses so much of its talent to other major cities and professional artists that live and move here simply face a lack of professional, paid musical theatre opportunities in this city. We're here to try and help change that!
